UMBUG is the Upper Midwest Banner User Group, which is a network of institutions of Higher Education that use the Ellucian Banner student information system. The group is committed to collaboration and resource sharing to solve common business problems, manage costs, and advocate effectively with Ellucian, and where appropriate, with other vendors. The group began in 2007 with 8 member schools and has grown to 12 member schools today. The annual hybrid conference and virtual Birds of a Feather (BOF) meetings provide opportunities for making connections with colleagues and for sharing tips and tricks, best practices, and innovative approaches to using Banner.
The annual conference is held in the late summer or fall. Common topics of current interest to users are selected from feedback from the BOF groups and the UMBUG Steering Committee. BOF groups meet a minimum of three times per year, both virtually and in-person at the conference.
A winter or spring workshop may be held if the Steering Committee determines there is shared interest for training by the member schools.
More detailed information can be found in the charter.
